I will ask you to introduce yourself. What is your position at FLOW TECH, s.r.o., how long have you been working there?
Hello, this is my twentieth year in the company. Since the beginning, my work has been very diverse and has expanded into other areas. I started at the company as a temporary worker inventorying the hard metal plate warehouse. Then as an employee, I was put in charge of "ISO" and communication with IS/IT vendors and over the years, I have already moved more towards what I studied, which is corporate finance and HR.
Now, since the end of last year, I have been representing the company as Managing Director.
How do you perceive the changes in the job market?
The job market is constantly evolving. It is related to the long economic boom, followed by a cooling in the form of the covid years. Issues of sustainability, inclusion, intergenerational differences and digital technology come into it. It is good that these issues are being discussed. On the last point, both employees and companies need to realise that progress in digitalisation is moving forward by leaps and bounds. As Andrew Ng said, "AI is not going to take our jobs. People who can work with AI will take our jobs."
Are you struggling to fill vacant positions in your company?
Due to low unemployment, it is a problem to fill vacancies. Recently, the situation is improving.
Although we have some very interesting people coming for interviews, it happens that they choose a position for which they are not suitable. For THP positions, we use personal profile analysis, which shows us and the candidate in which area they will be most effective. Often they are surprised and recognize that they see themselves in the profile and would be better off going in a different direction.
We use incentives to recruit by involving our own staff - a recruitment allowance for our own and the new employee. We also advertise through social media and recruit through recruitment agencies.
What positions are you currently filling?
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic machinist to operate a vertical centre, a meticulous assembler, a NC turner and a technologist with experience to join our production team. We would also like to expand our sales team with a sales consultant type sales person. The work we do is very varied and the creation of each individual product requires a high level of precision and engineering skill. Our engineers beautifully say that they "materialize the darkness".
Would you tell us what you enjoy most about your work and what you appreciate most about the company?
What I enjoy about my job is the variety and the opportunity and necessity to continually improve and educate myself.
In our company, I value the ability to find customized solutions for each customer.
Do you have any hobbies that you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to get outdoors, garden, read or listen to something interesting in the form of a podcast. In this area, my hobby is Tomas Bata, but in recent months I have also been focusing on the topic of digitalisation.
I also like to cook and bake. For example, Maria Bata's breakfast cakes are a big hit in my house now. They're almost catching up with the amazing cast gingerbread made from wholemeal rye flour.
How do you manage to juggle work and personal/family life?
I think I manage, because I have a lot of great people around me.
Do you have anything you would like to say to your colleagues?
I believe that if we are faithful to the principle of "want-will be" in our work, we will be able to achieve excellent results and together we will take our company FLOW TECH, s.r.o. even further.
We should strive to apply this principle in our work environment. We should set ambitious goals and strive to achieve them. In doing so, it is important not to forget about cooperation with colleagues and mutual support. The Bata motto also calls on us not to be afraid to overcome obstacles and seek new opportunities.
Thank you for the interview.
